Essence Street Style
Fabulous women, children and men gathered on Sunday, September 14 in Dumbo, Brooklyn for the 2nd Annual Essence Street Style Block Party. The outdoor event consisted of a special appearance by Gabrielle Union and a performance from rising star Andra Day, while music and hosting were done by DJ Olivia Dope and Tiff McFierce respectively. A runway show hosted by Mel B and Fashion Editor Joiee Thrope showcased this year’s designers and the Chevrolet challenge.
Essence went all out and there was no shortage of booths to find something to pique attendees’ interests. Vendors sold clothes, jewelry and headwraps while there were also activities for the children, which included a Home Depot sponsored craft area. Also, SheaMoisture, another event sponsor, hosted a complete makeover station with hair stylists and makeup artists offering free services throughout the day.
And through all of this, of course the fashion was fabulous with guests showcasing their personal style and leaving lasting impressions. The Essence Block Party was a fun day for young and old to gather, party and play all day. For more on the party and the event's sponsors check out the Essence website.
