BET Music Matters
Wednesday, August 12 at SOB’s S&E was On the Scene at the BET Music Matters showcase hosted by Rodney Rikai. The show had performances by Avery Wilson, Kevin Ross and Adrian Marcel with a surprise performance from Rotimi of the television show Power.
It was a night of good music, plain and simple. Each artist was talented and I loved hearing their voices, no special effects or gimmicks needed. Especially Avery whose performance set encountered technical difficulties but he pushed through and performed acapella and improvised to keep the audience enraptured.
All three have been working hard on their craft and have gained momentum chasing their dreams. Avery Wilson was on The Voice and has been building his career ever since. Kevin Ross was fun to watch and I discovered that he had a hand in creating Trey Songz summer hit Touchin, Lovin. And Adrian Marcel is being guided by the talented Raphael Saadiq and has had multiple mix tape releases. I can’t wait to hear more from these artists, as this is just the beginning for them!
Former BET Music Matters artists include J. Cole, Elle Varner, Marsha Ambrosius, Miguel and many more of your favorites.
