Got a Story to Tell...

I had the pleasure of talking to the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classes at Hazelwood West in St. Louis, MO about working in the fashion industry. The presentation focused on the process of bringing an idea to a garment and finally to the consumer, as well as career and educational opportunities in fashion and living in NYC. I had so much fun; the students were actively engaged asking questions and participating throughout. This was my first speaking engagement and I look forward to more. It is rewarding to know that my journey can inspire someone else and answer the same questions I had at that age. Several of the students wanted to pursue a career in fashion, from styling to design, and I was glad to be able to shed light on an industry that seems “unattainable.”

If you have knowledge share it. I am now a resource for those students, I shared my story and email address so they can reach out to me individually. No matter where you are in your career you have skills, talents and information that could be essential to someone looking to follow a similar path. You never how you can help someone else. Start small, at your alma mater, church or local community for programs that align with your skills. I believe there is someone out there who wants to hear what you have to share.
